The Bowflex TreadClimber TCxxxx's running surface is split down the middle so that in actual fact there are two independently powered surfaces. When the TCxxxx is put into "treadmill" mode, however, the two running surfaces come together enabling the two running surfaces to operate in unison and give the appearance and feel that you are running on one uniform, rolling surface.
