Software Test & Validation Engineer. A contract role with potential conversion is available with our Tucson, AZ client for a Software Test & Validation Engineer. This person will perform the following Software Test and Validation activities: Review of software requirements for accuracy and testability Creation of test strategies for requirements (eg describing the approach for how a requirement will be tested) Creation of test procedures (based on requirements, software design documents and test strategies) Issue identification Software verification and validation (ie executing approved tests against a software build) Candidate will be working within a team and be responsible for input and review of software requirements along with software design decisions. They will need to create detailed Test Strategies (aka: Objectives / Scenarios) based on the Software Requirements. Test Strategies will be further refined into detailed Software Test Procedures (test steps). Understands and uses expert practices for requirements management, development and analysis. Develops and uses company design practices as applied to projects. Understands and applies industry practices and benchmarks. Uses company practices for SW integration and test at an expert level. Develops enhanced and/or more efficient practices. Develops and mentors and assures growth in practices. Applicants must be able to work directly for Fast Switch (US Citizens and all other parties authorized to work in the US are encouraged to apply). The ideal candidate for this position will have considerable prior experience with Graphical User Interface (GUI) software testing and familiarity with Client / Server based applications. Web-based application testing is a plus. Candidate will need strong verbal and written communication skills. Be able to explain detailed or complex concepts to others. Candidate will interact on a daily basis with other members of the Development and Test Teams, and may additionally be responsible for making presentations and presenting / explaining their work for review by others. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline Understanding of software configuration management Previous experience testing graphical user interfaces (minimum of 8 years is desirable) Understanding of the software development process Experience using Microsoft applications including Word and Excel Excellent written and communication skills Strong analytical skills Attention to detail and desire for quality Experience using HP Quality Center Experience in Test Automation is a plus Demonstrates success in technical proficiency, creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought. Expert knowledge of engineering principles and concepts. Assures project level configuration management. BS in a directly related discipline. Advanced studies or training. Degree requirement can be waived with additional years of experience (with Associate's they will need 3 additional years of experience and with no degree 6 additional years of experience). Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
